This Palm Sunday reflection invites us to witness one of history's most profound moments of misunderstanding and hope. As we journey through the Gospel accounts in Matthew, Luke, and John, we discover Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey—not as the conquering warrior many expected, but as a humble king fulfilling ancient prophecy from Zechariah. The crowds shouted 'Hosanna,' celebrating what they believed was the arrival of their earthly liberator, yet within days those same voices would cry 'Crucify him.' This dramatic reversal challenges us to examine our own expectations of God. How often do we, like those first-century crowds, celebrate Jesus while completely misunderstanding His mission? We think we know what God should do, how He should work, yet Scripture reminds us that His ways are higher than ours. The donkey itself carries deep symbolism—representing humility and peace rather than military conquest. As we stand at the beginning of Holy Week, we're reminded that this isn't just ancient history but the start of a domino effect leading to Good Friday's sacrifice and Easter's resurrection. The question for us today is whether we're willing to let go of our preconceived notions and embrace the kingdom Jesus actually came to establish—one not of earthly power but of eternal significance.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome back to another episode of Baseball in the Bible. I am Riker Dotson. That is my father, Ryan Dotson. And we have a special guest today, my mother, Jennifer Dotson. She's back in the house. Third appearance. You're the first person to ratings have dipped.

SPEAKER_01

So we brought in to help bring up the ratings. So she is. She's here with us to help us. So we're grateful for that. Good to be back. America. Yeah. Yeah, no. Today's a big day. Again, the day we're recording this.

SPEAKER_04

Opening day.

SPEAKER_01

Opening day of Major League Baseball season.

SPEAKER_04

Yankees, Giants, Jersey over there.

SPEAKER_01

Playing right now on Netflix. First game of the season. Tomorrow, Thursday. The whatever day that is is the uh is opening day across baseball. So Cardinals open tomorrow at home against the uh Rays, Tampa Bay Rays, which is a weird opening day matchup. But we've got them in town. And uh even though it may be a rebuilding year, I'm ready, baby. I'm ready to cheer on the youngsters and see who becomes a star.

SPEAKER_04

The youngsters.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. And then over my shoulder here, we got the Rangers. They also open tomorrow, I think, on the road at the Phillies. I think three o'clock, too, but I'm not sure on the time of that. But tomorrow everybody kicks off, so it's back, baby. So excited for that. Um, also this weekend we are heading to uh San Antonio to watch a little college baseball. Yes, we are gonna watch East Carolina and University of Texas, San Antonio, the Roadrunners. A little good little college baseball game on Friday night. And hopefully um gonna get a chance to to chat with Parker Bird. For those that remember, we we talked about him in our devotional. In our devotion, uh place at East Carolina, an awesome story, which we won't recap right now because he's gonna be on our podcast next week. Yeah, baby. Next episode. Parker Bird will be joining us. So we're gonna go down and catch a game of his uh this weekend, and then next week we'll recap that and and interview him and get a chance to just dive into his incredible story. So we're very excited about that. Uh been looking forward to this. So uh that's all coming up this week, and said it'll be on next week's episode, which will be on Easter Sunday. Uh obviously a very special day. Uh, and the day this episode airs today is what?

SPEAKER_04

It is um we're talking about it, it's it's Palm Day.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you can tell this is live, otherwise, we would edit that and redo that, but um it is Palm Sunday, and uh so we're gonna talk about that in our devotion. If you've been watching, we've been uh we worked through the book of 1 Samuel and covered that, broke that down as efficiently as we could, and we're gonna move on to 2 Samuel. But for today being Palm Sunday and next week being Easter, we're going to just take a little pause on that and we'll pick back up in 2nd Samuel after that. So today we're gonna talk Palm Sunday specifically, read some verses, probably verses that if you're at church today, you've probably heard you've heard today. Uh, but we're gonna talk through it and and just prepare ourselves as we head into this Easter week uh to celebrate uh what the Lord has done. So let's get into it. Uh, we have a couple passages that we're gonna read. Riker, you can go first. Tell us where yours is found.

SPEAKER_04

You mungo bookmark. Um mine is Matthew chapter 21, one through eleven. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

That is correct.

SPEAKER_04

As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away. This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet. Say to the daughter Zion, see your kingdom comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey and on a colt, the foal of a donkey. The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They bought they brought the donkey and the colt and placed it and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the on the road, while others cut branches from trees and spread them on the on and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, Hosanna, the son of David, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest heaven. When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, Who is this? The crowds answered, This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee. Hence the name Palm Sunday, they got palms and put them on the road.

SPEAKER_01

And I will just read too if you on verse four, what you just read, Riker, it says, This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet. And in verse five, it had those things listed. Um, but if you read in Zechariah 9.9, that's where it was actually spoken. And so Zechariah 9:9 says exactly what you just read. It says, Rejoice greatly, daughter Zion, shout, daughter Jerusalem, see your king comes to you righteous and victorious, slowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foe of a donkey. So that was the prophecy, and it came true, and it was fulfilled. And so um sometimes it's cool. Obviously, it's the same wording, but when you say a prophecy fulfilled, to go back and and read that because that's yeah, it's like hey, I read that well, and it just what what brings scripture and and uh makes it real and accurate and ties it all together. So um before we talk about it, Jen, why don't you go ahead and read your passages and we'll talk some about it?

SPEAKER_03

All right, I have Luke 19, starting in verse 28. After telling this story, because he had told the parable of ten servants. Um, after telling the story, Jesus went on toward Jerusalem, walking ahead of his disciples as he came to the towns of Bethage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives. He sent two disciples ahead. Go into that village over there, he told them. As you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there with no that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks, Why are you untying that colt? Just say, The Lord needs it. So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said, and sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, Why are you untying that colt? And the disciples simply replied, The Lord needs it. So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for him to ride on it. As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him. When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen. Blessings on the king who comes in the name of the Lord, peace in heaven and glory in the heavens. And some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that. He replied, If they keep quiet, the stones along the road would burst out into cheers. But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep. How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes. Before long your enemies will build ramp ramparts against your walls, and encircle you and close in on you from every side. They will crush you into the ground and your children with you. Your enemies will not leave a single stone in place because you did not accept your opportunity for salvation.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

There are times when you read the scripture and people like Jesus is so blunt and direct, and you're like, how do people not? Again, we would make could make the same mistake, but it's hard to understand how they did because it's like pre-direct what you guys say. Like, how did you miss that? What he's saying to you. Well, you blew it, you missed it. Um so any thoughts on that? We're gonna read the last few, but any thoughts on what you guys have read so far? That's that story, just different accounts and and the two gospels there of kind of the same story, but it is the same story.

SPEAKER_04

Um I is there like any I guess it's just different accounts, but is there a specific reason why uh Matthew doesn't have that story in it? Like is it just different accounts?

SPEAKER_01

Just different accounts, yeah. Just different writing and um you know perspectives on certain things, but um the story, the the whole the donkey thing, it's just it's one of those again, kind of like little things, but yet you put yourself in the reality, just to you know, tell the disciples, just go tell the guy I need the donkey.

SPEAKER_03

The Lord needs it, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The Lord needs it. And again, the guy's like, so you know that the Lord had been preparing that guy exactly to say yes, and some, you know, but it was like because if otherwise that guy's gonna be like, uh no, you can't have my donkey. It's my donkey. That would have been a lot of people.

SPEAKER_03

He's the Lord, he can make a donkey, yeah. So uh just again, one of those like little well, and even I've always thought it was a a cult, but then in Riker's version in Matthew, it was two. It was the donkey and a cult, right?

SPEAKER_01

No, it's one.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, okay. It was this referred to it as different. Yeah, okay. I misheard.

SPEAKER_01

The foe of a donkey is like uh I think it's like the I don't know. I don't know. I'm not gonna pretend like I know what donkeys are, but it was it was one donkey. Okay, it was like a different description of the donkey.

SPEAKER_03

Because that's how I had always recalled it. Okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So I think I don't know if the foe, I think it's like the the baby or like a I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Well, and and talks about him never been ridden before.

SPEAKER_04

I think it's like a put it in the comments, yeah. Like a baby donkey. It was a foe. Educate us. Yeah, we do.

SPEAKER_01

Um it was a donkey, some type of donkey. That's what I'm here for.

SPEAKER_04

It was some kind of donkey.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. So any other thoughts on that? Obviously, yes, he's coming in, and we're gonna read. Actually, go ahead and read Riker, go ahead and read John chapter 12, verse 12 and 13. Go ahead and read those.

SPEAKER_04

The next day the great crowd that Jesus had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Blessed is the King of Israel. Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it as it is written. Do not be afraid, daughter Zion. See your king is coming, seated on a donkey's culprit.

SPEAKER_01

There you go. So Palm Sunday. A day of celebration. Also a day of preparation for well, a day of misunderstanding as well, you know, at that time.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, true. It really was a misunderstanding.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it's just Hosanna means uh savior, I think, or save us or something of that nature.

SPEAKER_04

Um, and so no, it's in a Kirk Franklin song.

SPEAKER_01

Uh is it? It isn't for us. Okay, all right. I know we sang it for church, you know? Yeah, I think you're right, yeah. Um but and probably being sung at churches everywhere on this Palm Sunday, but um so they have misunderstanding again. They're they're celebrating, they believe he's coming in to be a physical earthly king instead of a spiritual king, spiritual savior. Um so I do think the people on this day are genuine, but they're it's just a misplaced kind of celebration because obviously just a few days later they completely absolutely butcher him. Well, they but they flip their, you know uh their tone, they flip their, you know, instead of Hosanna, it's crucify him just just in a few days' time.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that makes no sense to me. It's like how come one day you be giving like putting palm trees on the road and calling uh saying Hosanna and then three days later Well, again, because uh A it had to happen.

SPEAKER_01

Uh it was prophesied it would happen, but but again, it's easy to say that and there's a lot of things in scripture that it's easy for us to look back and say, how dumb are those people? And truthfully, they are dumb. But we are all but we are dumb. And and there's nothing that says we wouldn't have been just as dumb in that time. You're blinded, you're looking for something that you think you, you know, all these prophecies, all these things you think is supposed to look like this, and when he comes and he's not that, he's different, you can't wrap your head around it, you know. And so they're thinking he's coming in to set up an earthly kingdom to overthrow Rome, to do, you know, do all these things, and and he's talking about the kingdom of heaven.

SPEAKER_03

I firmly believe one day when we get to heaven, what we think we're gonna be completely flipped upside down.

SPEAKER_01

100%.

SPEAKER_03

It's crazy. Like to their point, like what they they were expecting one thing and it was completely different. I truly believe we're in the same boat, like we expect one thing and we're gonna figure out. We had no idea.

SPEAKER_01

100%.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But so uh yeah, again, it's you know, in this moment they're excited, they're celebrating. Again, I don't I think it's genuine worship on this day, but it's just a misunderstanding of and not comprehending what they're celebrating, you know, and so um it's it's a again on Palm Sunday in church, it's always a celebratory day, and and it wasn't that moment, but it's also sad because you know what's coming up what's right around the corner, you know, and it's sad even for those people to think they were all at this high, and then to just totally flip the script there just a few days later. Uh it is sad.

SPEAKER_03

Um I do want to correct. I don't want y'all getting us on the comments. In Matthew, it does say uh, as soon as you enter in, you will see a donkey tied there with a colt beside it. Untie them and bring them to me. So donkey with a colt next to it, bring them to me. Two things. So I just again I'm reading scripture. I don't want to y'all to come back and say, I request the comment section. Educate. That was Matthew's.

SPEAKER_01

But you're reading a different translation. So in my translation, it says, go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever written. Untie it and bring it here.

SPEAKER_03

That's Luke's account. Read Matthews. That's the one that Riker read. That's it.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

But again, yeah, again, those are just detailed semantics. I just don't want anybody to come back on the comments.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think anybody's gonna do that.

SPEAKER_04

But I won't be invited back, by the way, to the podcast. No, unless America pleads for you again.

SPEAKER_02

Come on, America.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Um, any other thoughts?

SPEAKER_04

Um, no.

SPEAKER_01

She was like, we know that this was Jesus came in riding on a singular donkey that we know. So whether they got two or one, for some reason, apparently that's important. No, but he came in riding on a donkey. He wasn't riding across two donkeys, he came in riding on a singular donkey, uh, which was to represent as a humble king, yes, and and not a conquering warrior. And so uh riding on one donkey. Don't want to make a mistake and say that there was only one donkey in the area.

SPEAKER_04

I just spread them on two donkeys.

SPEAKER_01

Laying down across two donkeys.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh, put words in my mouth. So did not say that.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Well, it's Palm Sunday, and we do are thankful that he came in and was the conquering king. And uh again, we uh look forward to this Easter week to celebrate uh everything the Lord did, all of his sacrifice and his victory, um, as we head into Easter Sunday next week.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And I I do like I see because there's three main Easter holidays, I guess. It's Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter. So I always look at this as like the domino effect, because without Palm Sunday, we wouldn't have Good Friday. Without Good Friday, we wouldn't have the resurrection Easter. So I think this day is like the beginning of the domino falls.

SPEAKER_01

It's the beginning of the week for sure. Um this day didn't have to happen, but obviously it did to fulfill scripture as we read. But um not as cool as you just walking in. Well, again, it's just just fulfilling scripture, but it it um it's part of the week, and it's the most important week in the history of history, history, yeah. So we hope you guys have a great Palm Sunday and a great Easter week, great Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and again we'll we'll talk about that a little bit uh next week's episode.

SPEAKER_04

With Parker.

SPEAKER_01

With Parker, yeah. Um all right, we're gonna transition into something a little more lighthearted, um which is the real reason I was invited. We don't invite her theological theological breakdown for one or two donkeys, a philological theory about donkeys. But she's here to discuss. We bring her in for the hard-hitting I'm actually a little offended.

SPEAKER_03

You don't bring me in when you want to talk about baseball. I know baseball too, but you invite me for mascots, mascots, and today's topic is stadium food.

SPEAKER_01

Stadium food. The new some of the new additions at ballparks around uh baseball for 2026. So uh it's a normal thing every year. Stadiums will come up with new creative ideas, and baseball may be the best at this for any sport as far as coming up with food ideas, weird food items at each ballpark.

SPEAKER_03

It's almost like fair food sometimes. Oh no, 100%.

SPEAKER_01

But uh, and so there's some new ones here that we're gonna cover uh kind of quickly because we have I think we have 14 on our list here. Um, so we're gonna go through that. We have images of them so you can see them, see what you think if it makes you hungry or want to pass on that item. But uh comment below, hungry or pass. We'll give a quick shout out to to the uh Globe Life ballpark here in Arlington, Texas Rangers. We couldn't find a picture of it, but the new item this year at the ballpark for all of our local folks go out and try the 10 gallon cowboy hat nachos.

SPEAKER_03

A wearable hat.

SPEAKER_01

It's a wearable 10 gallon cowboy hat. So we couldn't find a picture, otherwise we would have it on this list.

SPEAKER_03

But and I like nachos.

SPEAKER_01

So that seems like a lot of nachos seems like uh would go good with the uh what's that? Dog that I've had out there a couple of times.

SPEAKER_00

The boomstick. The boomstick.

SPEAKER_01

The boomstick. Had two of those in my life, probably taking 10 years off of my life. But maybe have a boomstick with a 10-gallon hat of nachos.

SPEAKER_04

You're losing 20 years, right?

SPEAKER_01

See if I can go straight to the hospital.

SPEAKER_04

So ER. What happened? He ate a 10-gallon hat of nachos in a boomstick.

SPEAKER_03

I don't even think that's possible.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if it is. The boomstick, I was like sweating by the time I got into that thing. It's a two-foot long sausage hot dog, basically. But it's not just that, it's with the chili and the cheese and the jalapenos and onions and all that stuff and the bread.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. What in my I don't I don't do I know you?

SPEAKER_01

That was so good. But it was it was a project.

SPEAKER_02

So it took you several innings.

SPEAKER_01

It took me a few innings to get it, but I got it.

SPEAKER_02

Um has this story been my whole life?

SPEAKER_01

So we're gonna go through these real quickly, kind of go through some of the ballpark. So we got it on our computer here. So if we have to look in, bear with us. But um let me get here where we can start with this first one. We'll throw we're gonna throw these up there. So the first one is Jenny, can you read that?

SPEAKER_03

The Washington State Ferry Boat. Washington State Ferry Boat.

SPEAKER_01

This is for the Seattle Mariners. They're celebrating 75 years of ferries in the area and 50 years of the the Mariners franchise. So they're having these boats celebrating and commemorating those. So it's like, what is it, like guacamole there or something?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it looks like fish and like tartar dip or something on one end.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, just the cool boat. That's what got me. I like the souvenir boat.

SPEAKER_03

I was like the boat, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Which is probably made out of plastic and will deteriorate as soon as you leave the ballpark. Exactly. I love baseball.$65 for the you just made that up. I don't know the prices on any of it, but I know the boomstick is like$30. Yeah, at least so there's the Washington State ferry boat. All right, here we're gonna have a couple on this slide. Um, one for the Cubs and one for the D-Bax. Cubs is is uh like a churro and chickens, chicken fingers. Churo and chicken fingers. They put live chickens in the jurors, and then the uh D-Bax one is Jen. How do you describe it?

SPEAKER_03

That's wild. Um, it looks like a milkshake XJ9000. Yeah, it's like like it's got meat or Kit Kat stuck in there. I think I might have found my child. It looks pretty good, yeah. Like got some peanut butter, maybe.

SPEAKER_01

The other one I'm not a fan of churros, but I do like. I'm not a fan of the cubs. Well, cubs, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I thought for sure with the cubs that you'd be. Nope.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's out of there. So it's food. I mean, we've been to Wrigley Field. I had a they have some unique hot dogs at Wrigley.

SPEAKER_03

That was the one with the Cheetos.

SPEAKER_01

I had the Cheetos hot dog there, which was pretty good. No, wait, they have Cheeto hot dogs on the hot dogs. I mean, it's it's hot dog with Cheetos like hot, like flaming hot Cheetos on it and other things, and like melted cheese. Yeah, it was pretty good. It was a mess, but it was pretty good. Um, but that one I would I would not get that.

SPEAKER_04

I would get the diamondbacks.

SPEAKER_01

The diamondbacks one up probably that would be like a we'd all have to get back. We'd have to. That'd be so rich. Yeah, you would like to the amount of sugar in that thing. Yeah. Woo! So, all right. Uh, next option here. This is my favorite. So this one, and this looks like this place, this stadium is a stadium that we might visit this year. We're gonna try to hit a couple stadiums like we do. All right. This the the ballpark, uh, Pittsburgh PNC Park is a place that I want to go to. It's just from all accounts, it's one of the most beautiful stadiums in in baseball. And they have this new item, which is very similar to the boomstick, but it's it's almost like a foot-long corn.

SPEAKER_03

Corn dog, it looks delicious. I love a corn dog.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's what it is. Basically, it's a foot long, I mean, it's a foot-long hot dog wrapped in corn dog breading with a stick. A stick, so it's a corn dog.

SPEAKER_03

It's a corndog. I'll take the stick out, but it's called the hitter, maybe. Uh the package says hitter on it.

SPEAKER_01

Uh yeah, I don't remember the name.

SPEAKER_03

I would definitely get that. Yeah, and that's not even a lot. Like, that's I still need something else to eat with that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that would that would be easy. That's something that's like a Fletcher's corny dog at the fair, you know.

SPEAKER_04

Just yeah, except this this comes in nice your packaging, though.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but again, that one we'll report back on because I'm pretty sure we're gonna hit that up this year and we will have one of those say whether or not that one's good. Um, all right, these next two here are at one on the one on the left is the Dodgers.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, the Dodgers.

SPEAKER_01

Is that sliced brisket? It's not brisket, it's like um looks like brisket. Is it a I'd have to have a sausage or a pork? It's like a like a fancy kind of pork. I don't know what the name is for that.

SPEAKER_04

Show me a tawny pork, is what that is.

SPEAKER_01

It's like no, there's like a name, like a style for it. I can't remember what it is, but it is like a pork meat uh with what's like like fries or something.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that looks delicious.

SPEAKER_04

That looks amazing.

SPEAKER_01

And I don't have the name. Do I have the name up there for that?

SPEAKER_04

No, we go to Dodger Stadium. That's it.

SPEAKER_01

It's at Dodger Stadium, and then this other one is some type of chicken sandwich, it looks like, or is that a burger?

SPEAKER_03

No, well, it looks like there's chicken hanging off of it. I don't know what to do.

SPEAKER_01

This is a uh for the Washington Nationals, so it's something new for the Nationals ballpark. Again, I do not have the name of that one, but it looks it looks good, it looks like a mess.

SPEAKER_03

I was gonna say, I cannot eat that at a ball game. Like you would have food just pouring out the ball.

SPEAKER_01

That would be a mess. The one on the Dodgers one, that looks like a nice tidy meal at the ballpark.

SPEAKER_04

That looks amazing. Proper ballpark meal.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know about proper. That's an LA proper meal. Well, when you say fancy, yeah, that's like that's like LA. But it does look easy to manage. The other one, while delicious, you would probably make well and stuff would just be falling.

SPEAKER_03

I don't think you could get a good bite with everything.

SPEAKER_01

The bun does not look sufficient to hold everything for everything that's on there.

SPEAKER_04

Only hope is humor that's holding on by like a tiny thread. Yeah, all right.

SPEAKER_01

This next one, yeah, who jumps out at you. This one is the machete. This one I do have the name there. It looks amazing. This is at uh for the Miami Marlins. This is a new meal for them. They need all the help they can getting people into the stadium. So hopefully the machete will draw people in. But it looks good. How would you describe that, Jen?

SPEAKER_03

Uh I would describe it as maybe a street taco but foot long. Maybe that machete looks like it's gonna cut up my gut. It looks really good. It does look good. It's got onions and beef and maybe cilantro, some salsa wrapped in a this is why we brought you on on this.

SPEAKER_04

It looks delicious. That's why we brought you on the ones.

SPEAKER_01

Again, another challenge to eat, I think, sitting in your seat at a ballpark at the ballpark. But um, this may be one you want to have at a standing table or something while you're eating. Because I I don't know, the picture kind of cuts it off. There is like a case for it, but I don't like it. Like when you eat the boomstick, there's a big case, and you just kind of have to work your way in this case back. I'm assuming it's the same thing here for the machete, but it does look good. It does look good.

SPEAKER_04

This is the kind of thing where it's like if you eat this whole thing, they give you band that says, I survived the machete. Maybe something I should.

SPEAKER_01

All right, these next two are both at the same stadium. These do look good. This is Tampa Bay Rays.

SPEAKER_04

Talk to me, Rays.

SPEAKER_01

So we've got what's the name over there? I got it on the left.

SPEAKER_03

Oreo brownie milkshake.

SPEAKER_01

Oreo brownie milkshake.

SPEAKER_03

The pretzel dog.

SPEAKER_01

And then the pretzel dog with like some mustard on top. That looks good too. So both I think both of those items are mine. Would be worth while Tampa, much like the Marlins, cannot draw fans.

SPEAKER_02

So maybe their food will bring them in.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe their food will bring them in, but those are that looks good. They do look good. If we were to visit Tampa, both of those would be on.

SPEAKER_02

I doubt we will.

SPEAKER_01

We love pretzel bites. We do.

SPEAKER_03

That and I love ice cream.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so that that seems like a sweet dude. A good combination there. Uh again, don't know the pricing for any of these items. Probably could those are all very expensive.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you're going to a ball game.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It's called supply and demand.

SPEAKER_01

This one is uh Colorado Rockies. Slizilla, I think, you know, like a play on Godzilla or something.

SPEAKER_04

Slizilla also looks like it could kill me.

SPEAKER_01

But it's another what looks like a boomstick kind of, but it is that like mac and cheese.

SPEAKER_03

It looks like mac and cheese on top of a foot-long hot dog.

SPEAKER_01

That's longer than the foot. That's a bigger than because you have the little in the background, they're giving you the Oh, that's true.

SPEAKER_03

That's a regular, that's a foot-long, it's a two-foot hot dog.

SPEAKER_01

That's like which is what the boomstick is.

SPEAKER_03

Correct. I will say there's potential in this because mac and cheese, good ballpark hot dog, good. But they did not do it justice in the picture. It's not a great picture. I know the hot dog does not look good. Even the bun, it looks pasty and flowery. It just doesn't.

SPEAKER_01

It's Colorado, though. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe they were trying to be fancy. What do you expect? This is all they got. But again, mac and cheese, good. Hot dog good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it does look good. I mean, it would be again, I think it's it would be worth potentially trying.

SPEAKER_03

I don't I mean I'd have to see in real life because if it looks like that in real life, I'm out.

SPEAKER_04

The bone looks clay-ish. Yeah. I'm not eating that. That's okay. But there you go.

SPEAKER_01

What's it called again? Slizilla. Glazilla. Glazilla.

SPEAKER_04

Glazilla.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Here's one at uh the ballpark down south here. Uh Houston Astros.

SPEAKER_03

I would I would be tempted to try this. I'm trying that. It's a brisket donut. So I assume it's a donut with brisket on top.

SPEAKER_01

It looks like two fried donuts. But then the bottom.

SPEAKER_03

It also looks like mac and cheese is in there.

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, all I can tell is brisket and cheese in there. Everything else is just like a big pile of mess.

SPEAKER_04

No, it's brisket, barbecue sauce, mac and cheese.

SPEAKER_01

I like I like the I like all of those things, but the idea of it being on top of two fried donuts is. But that's the kind that's you can't. That's otherwise, don't order that. Just get brisket. That is the thing. Yeah, brisket. So it's the new new menu items. Um brisket donuts at Astros Park. So I would I would pass. Of course that's Houston. I like brisket, but I would pass on that.

SPEAKER_03

Well, here's the deal. Riker likes donuts. You like brisket. You order and stuff. I love brisket. What are you talking about? Well, that's true. But you really like donuts too.

SPEAKER_01

Mel likes donuts, so we can let her have the donuts.

SPEAKER_04

Yep, Mel can have the donuts.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Next items. Um, okay. A couple sweet tooth items here.

SPEAKER_03

But I'm not in on this. Like I I see this.

SPEAKER_01

The one on the left there with the the fruity pebbles. That's it immediately draws me in. I'm like, fruity pebbles. Because you're fruity pebbles.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's it's that's the Philadelphia Phillies. I think it's called a Schwarbaum or something in honor of Kyle Schwarber. Um, and I would get it. My only hesitation on it is there's a it's um what's the stuff I don't like? Funnel cake. There's like funnel cake in there, and I can't stand funnel cake, but um, it's like some kind of ice cream, but the fruity pebbles had you man, I love fruity pebbles, but I don't know that I would get that one. Then the other one is Mr. Met, and like it's like a brownie.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it looks like one of my teddy grims.

SPEAKER_01

Obviously, it's gonna be bigger than that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I know, but it looks I don't know, it doesn't look appealing to me. And I'm an ice cream person, I would not order either of these. Yes, I am. I agree. The Mets, he looks too dry, cakey, it just doesn't agreed.

SPEAKER_04

And then the the the Philly looks like it's out of a fever dream.

SPEAKER_03

So they did not sell the ice cream. I agree.

SPEAKER_01

The presentation on the on the cup could have been better. Correct. It's the picture, yeah. Correct because it just looks I mean the ice cream looks melted.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I don't know. But if it looked like a beautiful scoop of ice cream, you could convince me to try it. But that's probably how it really looks when you get it at the game because it's half melted, they've been working in it. We know how that goes.

SPEAKER_01

And I just realized too, if you're listening to this episode, which a lot of people do, sorry, you're not seeing all these pictures, you're gonna have to go look them up or just imagine what we're describing. But um that's true.

SPEAKER_04

We're not getting very good as visionaries.

SPEAKER_01

Um, all right. We got I think this is the last one. It is the last one. Um, this is for the Red Sox.

SPEAKER_03

Do you know the name?

SPEAKER_01

It's what is it? Lobster.

SPEAKER_03

Lobster poutine.

SPEAKER_01

You gotta say it like the Boston people. Lobsta.

SPEAKER_03

Lobsta poutine.

SPEAKER_01

Lobster poutine. That's by Boston Putin. That's terrible. Y'all just stop now. We go to the bonus. The lobster.

SPEAKER_03

I'm embarrassed for you.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome to our podcast, mom.

SPEAKER_01

So that's the lobster. The lobster poutine is a hard pass for me.

SPEAKER_03

Heck no.

SPEAKER_01

You guys?

SPEAKER_03

I don't like lobster, and I don't like poutine.

SPEAKER_01

It just doesn't look good. And I don't know. And again, the boat looks like that's like a paper boat.

SPEAKER_02

It's a teamu version. It does look like a kids marijuana.

SPEAKER_04

It's a teamu version of the what the mariners tried to do. That's true. That looks like it's disposable.

SPEAKER_01

It does, but I I'm not 100% sold that the mariner's one isn't disposable either.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I'm pretty sure that's plastic. This is paper. That's definitely paper. It does look like it kids.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, this one, this one, if you don't eat it fast, is dissolving in your lap within three innings.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, and then you're carrying that to your seat, the bottom is 100% falling out. I mean, you're gonna have you're gonna be either walking on shrimp or leaving shrimp.

SPEAKER_01

No shrimp. Lobster.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, lobster.

SPEAKER_01

So get me the choppa. Hard pass on that one. Yes. So of the 14, which would you say is your your favorite?

SPEAKER_04

Uh oh, oh okay.

SPEAKER_01

So well, when you say favorite, which is to be the one you would want to try the most.

SPEAKER_03

If I go to a game, I'm getting the corndog. That one top. Like without fail, I know it's gonna be good.

SPEAKER_01

Um corndog or the machete.

SPEAKER_03

The machete, I would definitely be intrigued about, and I would share it. I obviously I couldn't eat all of that, but I would take a bite of yours and I would get the corndog. But that's just the main course. I have to have dessert as well, and I'm getting the chocolate shake.

SPEAKER_01

Well, again, these are not all at the same ballpark. So you'd have to if you could go to anyone and try one, what would it be? Riker?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay. So um for the main course, um, yeah, it's just of the 14 we chose, which one would you want to go have?

SPEAKER_01

We can only get one. We're going to one ball apart.

SPEAKER_04

We're not we're not I think I would want to.

SPEAKER_01

Building our last meal here.

SPEAKER_04

They're not flying stuff in the right. I'm not going to the electric chair, no, but um I'll I'll I'll take the LA uh Oh, the fancy beef. The fancy beef. And I say that because not only do I get the fancy beef, but I get to watch uh gosh. Oh Johnny.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, alright. That's fair enough.

SPEAKER_04

Not the Dodgers, but I get to watch.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that's fair. Jen to St. Louis' in town. Or you're gonna go.

SPEAKER_03

See, because I'm from Texas and we can go to the fair and get the Fletchers, I'm probably gonna have to go machete. Because I can go get a corndog.

SPEAKER_01

Valid.

SPEAKER_03

So I'm going machete.

SPEAKER_01

All right. I would agree with you on that, but I'm gonna go corndog just because I think we're gonna hit PNC Park this year, and I'm gonna have that.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, we're definitely gonna have that. We are all trying that. And we're in Texas, so we're gonna get a good street taco. But I would like to try their version. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

All right, there you have it. That is if you're still with us for the lightning conversation. Settle the debate, yes. Go out to a stadium near you, go out to the ballpark in Arlington.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, get your 10-gallon nachos. I'll take that. They had a couple other little I think the boomstick is still there.

SPEAKER_01

Boomstick's still there. Yeah. They have the they also have the uh uh they have a street taco there that's that's like the same thing. So you can go to Rangers and get that. They have the same kind of I don't know if it's like the machete, but it's similar.

SPEAKER_03

All right, so I always get nachos. That's my go-to.

SPEAKER_01

So there you have it. Yeah, all right. That's pretty much it. Um again, big stuff coming next week. Exciting episode. Uh, but before we go tonight, um again, we've said from the beginning that this, you know, we wanna we started this to to kind of provide a some resources for folks that were in the baseball, playing baseball and in that community and and playing on the weekends and missing church on Sunday. Yeah, that's a big part of why we're doing it. Also to chronicle Riker's journey, baseball journey, yeah, as we're as he's getting older and the ups and the downs, the highs and the lows.

SPEAKER_04

We've had a down low.

SPEAKER_01

And uh, and and just being 100% real and authentic in this podcast, we're gonna discuss a low.

SPEAKER_02

Don't cry, mom. Right now, don't cry. She's been crying all week over this. You're telling the world. She's well, you've been making it known to the world. I have taken it hard, but you share.

SPEAKER_01

You share. Share what's going on in in your baseball journey.

SPEAKER_04

So uh, as Dad said, we made this just to um discuss like my my journey. And uh we've hit hello. So over the last weekend, I made a couple very, very costly errors and extra innings that um ultimately costed us the game. And um sadly the repercussions meant me being and again, we've said this from the beginning. We love this team, and we still do because it got me better than what I was. But sadly, the repercussions of my mental errors were me being cut from the team. So there you have it, folks.

SPEAKER_05

There you have it.

SPEAKER_01

So we celebrated our time with Forge. We we were thankful for that, and we as Riker said, we are still thankful for that, and we will still be cheering those boys on. Love that organization, love the coaches and the players and the families. Um but that part of the time has come to an end, and and now we we transition. It's not the end of your baseball journey. Um, it's a it's really a fork in the road more than a bump in the road. It's a moment for you to reset, reevaluate, um, recalibrate, as you said, and and get ready for what's next. Um good kick in the old took us to to get better.

SPEAKER_03

And a lot of good athletes go through setbacks. Absolutely. That's how you respond.

SPEAKER_01

That's how you respond.

SPEAKER_04

What do people talk about with Parker Bird on the next episode?

SPEAKER_01

How he responded. So um, again, you said it well, son, and and that that is that's how we're looking at it. Just a new chapter coming up. Um so we'll be talking, you know, for the next few weeks until we decide what the plan is. It may not be tournament updates, but more workout updates or something like that. And as we as we get ready for the next chapter in your baseball journey, and uh just trusting the Lord, believing that He's got something exciting uh for you in the future. So uh that's it. Mom didn't cry. I kept it together. I kept it together. So uh don't let her talk though.

SPEAKER_02

She might let it out on the next day.

SPEAKER_03

As soon as this camera turns off.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Well, pray for us, Riker, and and we'll get out of here.

SPEAKER_04

Lord, thank you for this day. Thank you just for another episode where we can honor your name, Lord, and have fun while doing it, Lord. Uh I just pray that anybody watching this when if they come to some decision in their life, like for me, it would be the baseball team. But Lord, I just pray that if they come to some crossroad or decision, Lord, I just pray that they would evaluate you and put you first in all that they do, Lord. I pray that if someone watching this video has not fully committed themselves to you, I just pray that they would right here, right now in Jesus' name. Amen.

SPEAKER_01

Amen. Before we go off the air here, Melody.

SPEAKER_02

Melody. Come here. Come here.

SPEAKER_01

So if mom's here, that means someone else is here. And she's been sitting over here in the room. So quiet. Not very quiet. So if you've heard banging going on in the background, she's done well.

SPEAKER_04

Come here, on camera. Then that's sit on my lap. Come sit on my lap.

SPEAKER_01

You can leave that stuff over there. Any day.

SPEAKER_03

She's done great. And she has been quiet for the most part. So she's gonna get her. Come on in the light. Come on. You want to come say hi? Hello in the old Melody. The podcast.

SPEAKER_01

Here she is. Oh, I love it. Melody Ann.

SPEAKER_02

Would you like to say hi to the world in the microphone? Hey. Say hi, Mel. No, don't.

SPEAKER_01

Say, say see you next time.

SPEAKER_02

See you next week.

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_01

All right. We love you guys, and we'll see you on the next one.

SPEAKER_04

Love you. Say it. Say it. In the mic. In the mic. Say goodbye.
